Zwitserland stuurt chocoladerepen de ruimte in

A box containing 6 bars of chocolate was recently given to astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS). The boxes, prepared by the Swiss Space Center at EPFL, first had to make it through a long approval process. It took 6 months for the chocolates to finally get off the ground.
The packaging had to be redesigned to be as plain as possible and the weight of the boxes had to be minimized. The boxes were then sent to the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) to verify that the boxes did not have any sharp corners or edges presenting a risk of injury. The boxes were then sent to the Aerospace Logistics Technology Engineering Company (Nieuwsbericht EPFL, 26 april 2016).
