Zweden: Parlement begint onderzoek naar gebruik van BPA in verpakkingen voor voedsel en medische hulpmiddelen

The Swedish Parliament has announced it has authorized an investigation into the use of bisphenol A (BPA) in products – particularly food contact materials and medical devices – with an intention to identify sources of consumer exposure and reduce them.
While BPA is not manufactured in Sweden, the Parliament announcement said that imported packaging, plastics and other products may contain the chemical. Polycarbonate baby bottles and sippy cups containing BPA have been banned in the EU for years. However, three EU Member States - Denmark, France and Belgium – have also banned BPA in food packaging for children three years or younger (Recycling Laws International, 7 maart 2014).
