VS: Wetsvoorstel Senaat zou nationaal verbod op Bisfenol A in voedselverpakkingen instellen
Senate bill S.2572, introduced in the United States Senate on 9 July 2014, seeks to ban food containers that contain or could release bisphenol A (BPA). The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) would be responsible for enforcement. The proposed law would amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.
The bill includes FDA reporting requirements and several other provisions. The bill was referred to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions. However, in the waning days of the current Congressional session, the bill’s passage seems unlikely. A similar measure – H.R. 5033 – was introduced in the US House on July 9 (State Recycling Laws Update, 31 juli 2014).
