VS: verplichte vermelding BPA op voedselverpakking voorgesteld in Connecticut General Assembly
The Connecticut General Assembly has introduced a bill to require warning messages on all food packaging to which bisphenol A (BPA) has been intentionally added. The warning message stating “THIS PACKAGE CONTAINS BISPHENOL-A” (in a clear, 6 legible font of not less than twelve-point boldface type of uniform font 7) would be required after January 1, 2015.
Connecticut already has enacted laws banning BPA in some types of food containers (i.e., baby bottles sippy cups, sports bottles, and thermoses) and in thermal receipt paper. The Committee referred the bill to itself, and a hearing on the measure was scheduled for March 7 (State Recycling Laws Update, 10 maart 2014).
