VS: FDA stelt voor etiketten voor voedingsmiddelen aan te passen
Based on the Georgetown Institute for Consumer research, the FDA proposes to adapt current nutrition labels in order to help improve consumer’s decisions for a healthy diet. Changes imply the reformatting of the current nutritional facts, emphasizing calories and serving size, and adjusting serving sizes to reflect what consumers actually consume.
Main outcomes of the research show that consumers perceive food as being less healthy if larger serving sizes are depicted, and that the alternate labels are rated as more helpful when consumers were only given a ten-seconds view on the label. Larger serving sizes are perceived to be more accurate (Georgetown University website).
