VS: Evanston, Illinois keurt verbod op eenmalige kunststof draagtassen goed
The Evanston City Council has voted to approve an ordinance prohibiting the distribution of point-of-sale disposable plastic shopping bags in stores larger than 10,000 square feet. The ordinance will impact 27 stores in Evanston about a year from now, effective August 1, 2015. Dine-in and take-out restaurants, as well as non-chain stores, are exempt.
The ordinance does not prohibit customers from using bags of any type brought to the store for their own use. Additionally, point-of-sale paper bags as well as plastic bags used to package products in-store, such as produce, meat and other grocery items, are not affected (Nieuwsbericht City of Evanston, 29 juli 2014).
