Veiligheidsbeoordelingen 2 stoffen voor gebruik in actieve VCM

The EFSA Panel on Food Contact Materials, Enzymes, Flavourings and Processing Aids (CEF Panel) has assesed the active substances ‘polyacrylic acid, sodium salt, cross-linked’ and ‘potassium metabisulfite’ for the use in active food contact materials.
The CEF Panel concluded that the use of polyacrylic acid, sodium salt, cross-linked, does not raise a safety concern when used in absorbent pads in the packaging of fresh or frozen meat, poultry, fish, fruits and vegetables, and that the substance potassium metabisulfite would not be a safety concern for the consumer if used as precursors for the release of sulfur dioxide to wine under the considered conditions (EFSA Journal, 13 mei 2016).
