Thomson Reuters voorspelt hoe de wereld er in 2025 uit zal zien: op petroleum gebaseerde verpakkingen zijn verleden tijd, op cellulose gebaseerde verpakkingen overheersen

For a look forward, Thomson Reuters analysts identified rapid progress and emergent trends in scientific research and technological innovation, gauging the advances most likely to affect health and the quality of life in the next decade.
One of their predictions is that in 2025 petroleum-based packaging will be history and that packaging based on nanocellulose will rule. Nanocellulose is material comprising nano-sized cellulose fibrils with a high length/width ratio. Bio-nanocomposites are derived from bio matter. Advancements in the use of these elements will, in 2025, provide packaging materials that are fully biodegradeable (Nieuwsbericht ScienceWatch, juni 2014).
