Polen: Nieuwe regelgeving scheiden huishoudelijk afval

In January 2017, the Government of Poland officially published a new national law requiring the separation of recyclable waste into different streams. Each stream is to be placed in a four color-coded recycling bin: paper –blue bin, glass –green bin, metals and plastics –yellow bin and biodegradable (food) waste –brown bin. The law calls for further separation of clear glass from colored (green, blue, etc.) glass.
While the law takes effect on 1 July 2017, Polish municipalities will have five years to transition to the four color bin scheme. The deadline for municipalities to have the scheme in place is 30 June 2022 (Recycling Laws International, 28 februari 2017).
