EU: 7e Milieuactieprogramma wordt wet

The Council and European Parliament have signed into law the Decision on a 7th EU Environment Action Programme, which will guide EU policy action on environment and climate policy for the next seven years.
The programme was proposed by the Commission in November 2012. It identifies nine priority objectives for the period up to 2020, including protecting, conserving and enhancing the Union's natural capital. The programme states that packaging should be optimised to minimise environmental impacts, and resource efficient business models such as product service systems, including leasing of products, should also be supported (Persbericht Europese Commissie, 20 november 2013).
