Chili: Congres dichtbij goedkeuren nationale EPR wetgeving
A year ago, a bill was introduced in the Chilean Camara de Diputados (House of Representatives) to establish mandatory extended producer responsibility (EPR). Earlier this year, the bill was amended and unanimously approved by the Committee on Natural Resources, and passage by the full Congress now appears more likely. In a related effort, the new Minister of Environment, Pablo Badenier, has been working diligently to gain support for the legislation. The current version of the bill identifies nine product categories as EPR priorities, including containers and packaging. The Ministry will set recycling and recovery targets for EPR priority products (State Recycling Laws Update, 15 augustus 2014).
